Numerology or Astrology- that’s a toughie.

Obviously as a practicing Numerologist I’m going to be biased, aren’t I?

Apart from my loyalty to my profession and passion for the subject, I also have very good reasons why I think Numerology outshines Astrology.

For example, when considering twins who’d both like a metaphysical chart prepared, let’s compare both ancient sciences.

Using Astrology; the twin’s birthdates would obviously be the same & so how different would their charts actually be? I know Astrologers take the time of birth into consideration too but let’s face it, that’s only usually a few minutes apart & the planets won’t have moved that much in such a short space of time.

So, even though the twins would be separate individuals with very separate personalities, their charts would be practically identical!

However, when using Numerology, you would get very different and unique charts. Granted that their Destiny numbers would be the same (as this is derived from their date of birth) but the rest of the numbers in their charts would be very different. This is because of their individual names and the numbers that are derived from the letters in each name.

Interpreting their individual names using Numerology would indicate their unique personality traits, strengths and weaknesses and karmic lessons. Providing; in my opinion, a far more accurate and thorough chart.

Obviously Astrology is still definitely a science to be reckoned with and can provide very interesting insights. There is certainly nothing wrong with using either Numerology or Astrology to try & help us to understand ourselves & others.


I personally believe that both metaphysical sciences are excellent at showing us our true potential.

Whichever Metaphysical science you decide to go with please remember that any chart is only a blueprint. Only you can live your life for you. A Numerology or Astrology chart can help you to swim upstream with the flow of life rather than leave you to feel as though you are drowning amongst threatening waves!

Did you know that all names are Numerology names?

That is because all names can be translated into their numerical/numerological meaning, simply by applying each letter to its numerical equivalent.

It’s as easy as A, B, C.

For example:

A=1
B=2
C=3 and so on until the end of the alphabet.

So let’s take a look at a random name.

Sandy Fiona Birchwood

Numerologically her name looks like this:

S=1
A=1
N=5
D=4
Y=7

F=6
I=9
O=6
N=5
A=1

B=2

Her name contains:

1’s=3
2’s=1
3’s=1
4’s=2
5’s=3
6’s=4
7’s=1
8’s=1
9’s=3

As Sandy has at least 1 of each number in her name this means that she is fundamentally well-balanced and has no karmic lessons to learn.

Karmic lessons are normally detected by missing numbers in a name.

Having another quick look at Sandy’s numerology name we see that she has quite a few 5’s & 9’s in her name. However, a lot of people have many 5’s in their name as the letter E relates to the number 5 and the letter E is the most used letter of the alphabet. So Sandy isn’t unusual here.

The three 9’s indicate that she is compassionate, understanding and sympathetic.

Sandy does though, also have a lot of 6’s in her name and this is unusual. She has four 6’s in her name (whereas most people only have 1) so this warrants further investigation.

The number 6, in general, represents love, harmony, responsibility and the family. Because Sandy has a lot of 6’s doesn’t automatically mean that she’s very loving. Instead she has an overload of the number & that can have a detrimental effect on her personality.



Having this many 6’s in a name means that she’s over-responsible, taking on her and others responsibilities when really she shouldn’t.

She may be very particular and fussy, wanting things ‘just so’. This is because of the strong sense of harmony and beauty that she feels.

She is also likely to have very rigid views, knowing just what is right for everyone else, whether they ask her opinion or not. This attitude comes from her thinking she’s coming from a place of love and therefore she’ll think that her suggestions should be listened to!

So having read that you may be thinking that less is more.

Actually in Numerology as in most metaphysical subjects, what is hoped for is balance. Therefore we wouldn’t want a name with too few or too many 6’s. With one or two 6’s in a name, a person would feel a natural sense of love and responsibility towards his family and friends and shouldn’t feel or be perceived as out of balance.

Apart from many other aspects, Numerology can highlight your strengths and limitations from your name.

This helps you to be self-aware and know what aspects of yourself to work on, should you wish too.

Depending on your Destiny number and the life you lead, some over-balanced or under balanced numbers may actually suit you.
